New lubricant can become contaminated during storage and transfer. Good handling prevents dirt, water and the wrong product from reaching a critical component.
- Store containers sealed, dry and protected from temperature extremes.
- Use dedicated, clearly labelled transfer equipment.
- Keep lids, funnels, guns and couplers clean.
- Do not return unused lubricant to the original container.
- Use clean sample points and containers for oil analysis.
- Apply first-in, first-out stock rotation and check shelf life.
- Separate similar-looking but incompatible products.
- Record batch details where traceability matters.
If lubricant has an unusual smell, texture, separation, contamination or damaged packaging, quarantine it until its condition is confirmed.
