Gates industrial belt identification and sourcing
Need a Gates replacement belt for planned maintenance or a machine repair? Send Bridge Engineering the complete printed marking, quantity and required date. We can investigate the reference and sourcing options, with availability confirmed against the specific requirement.
Start with the marking, not a visual match
Photograph the full belt reference and any product-family name before the marking becomes unreadable. Include the machine maker and model, or an original parts-list reference. Gates provides official identification and application resources to support product enquiries.
- V-belt enquiries: send the printed section and length reference, plus the number of belts working together on the drive.
- Toothed or synchronous belts: include the full designation, width and clear photographs of the tooth shape. Do not assume that belts with similar teeth are interchangeable.
- Unmarked belts: explain which measurements are confirmed and how they were taken. A worn belt’s measured length alone may not establish its original designation.
Replacing a belt on an existing drive?
Tell us whether you need an exact specified replacement or identification help. Include any special operating conditions recorded in the machine documentation and say whether the belt is an individual item or part of a multi-belt arrangement.
A replacement must match the drive requirements, not merely fit around the pulleys. Installation, alignment and tension settings should be taken from the applicable manufacturer instructions rather than inferred from a product photograph.
What to include in your Gates enquiry
- All printed markings and photographs of the belt profile.
- Confirmed dimensions with units, machine details and any parts-list reference.
- Quantity, number of belts on the drive and required date.

Supply information: availability and lead time are confirmed for each enquiry. Product references do not imply stock availability or authorised-distributor status. Identification guidance is not a substitute for the equipment maker’s specification or installation instructions. Obtain measurements only when equipment is safely isolated and accessible.
