Particles, water, air and degraded fluid can damage pumps, valves, seals and actuators.
- Keep new components capped until assembly.
- Clean the work area, tools and connection points.
- Use filtered transfer equipment rather than open containers.
- Flush new or repaired pipework to the required cleanliness level.
- Change filter elements based on condition indicators and the maintenance plan.
- Take representative oil samples from suitable sampling points.
- Investigate water, foam, unusual colour, odour or rapid filter blockage.
- Protect disconnected hoses and ports immediately with clean caps and plugs.
Cleanliness targets and filter ratings must be based on component sensitivity and manufacturer requirements. A filter that fits physically is not necessarily an equivalent replacement.
