This Resource Centre provides general guidance only. Always follow the equipment manufacturer’s instructions, the product technical data sheet and your site’s safe system of work. Isolate stored energy before maintenance. For safety-critical, regulated or uncertain applications, ask a competent engineer or the product manufacturer to confirm the specification.
Information to include for chemical, mechanical and workplace PPE selection enquiries.
For product-specific, safety-critical or application-critical decisions, contact Bridge Engineering with the operating conditions and relevant technical documentation.
PPE enquiry checklist
Use your workplace risk assessment to describe the protection required. PPE must be suitable for the task and wearer, and compatible with other equipment worn at the same time.
- Work and exposure: describe the task, hazards, working conditions and how long and how often the PPE will be used.
- Hazard details: for chemical exposure, provide the substance, concentration, temperature and relevant safety data sheet; for mechanical hazards, describe the contact, impact or cut risk.
- Existing specification: send the manufacturer, product code, markings and any required protection standard or performance level from your assessment.
- Wearer and fit: state sizes, fit requirements and any other PPE that must be worn together. Highlight where fit testing or specialist advice is needed.
- Order requirements: give quantities by size, disposable or reusable preference, required date and delivery or collection details.
- Supporting information: include clear photographs of product labels and the relevant parts of the specification or assessment.
We can help source against a confirmed specification. A quotation or a similar-looking replacement does not establish suitability: the responsible person must confirm protection, fit, compatibility, training and maintenance requirements before use.
